What to do this month
December
TIME TO PUT YOUR POND TO BED FOR THE WINTER...
Ensure there is a minimum 2ft of water to avoid it fully freezing; to allow for 8" to freeze and provide at least 16" of swimmable area.
Some form of movement or water entry or as a minimum, a hole, is also very important to maintain the supply of oxygen. Suggestions to achieve this are keeping your waterfall running, using an aerator or pump close to the surface area that is free from frost/ice.
From now until March there is no need to feed your fish, they do not want to eat and are happy saving energy at the bottom.
